In 1991, Patrick decided to make a small amount of wine to be enjoyed by family and friends, which was met with such rave reviews that he decided to launch the Elan Vineyards label. In 1995, we released our first vintage, a 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon. The Wine Spectator acclaimed Elan Vineyards as one of the "New names in Cabernet to try before they are too hot!" This put Elan on the map!

Since then, we continue to produce wines that are the marriage of classic winemaking and meticulous farming practices. In making our wines, Patrick seeks the fullest expression of the vineyards. His philosophy is that in order to make wines that capture a sense of place, it is necessary to allow the vineyard to speak, by not manipulating the wines in the cellar. His goal is to produce complex and balanced wines that are seamless on the palate and silky on their finish.

We are proud to be a family-run winery. Linda is responsible for the business side of the winery and taking care of our valued Wine Society members, while Patrick and our long-time foreman, Nestor, run the vineyard and winery operations.  Our second generation, Monique and Nicolas, are both proficient in all areas of the of the vineyard and winery and are always eager to lend a hand when they are home from college.
